Amid rising tensions with the Vatican.. Trump posts a photo of himself embracing "Christ"

Afrasianet - U.S.  President Donald Trump posted  a photo of himself embracing Jesus Christ as there appeared to be no sign of a slowdown in the war of words between his administration and Pope   Leo XIV.

The photo, which Trump reposted on his Truth Social account, shows Trump with his eyes closed, his forehead touching the forehead of Jesus Christ as he stands in a similar position. In the background, an American flag is accompanied by a caption that reads, "Maybe the Lord will use his trump card!"

"This may not like the far-left lunatics, but I think it's very nice!! Trump said in his post.

Earlier this week, Trump posted a photo of him posing as "Jesus Christ." The post drew widespread criticism of the Republican president, which he later deleted.

Trump, who does not attend church regularly, has a large base of Christian voters, including Catholics. He has been at loggerheads with Pope Leo XIV, the first U.S.-born Catholic leader and an outspoken critic of the U.S.-Israel war on Iran.

Trump reiterated his criticism of the Catholic religious leader last night. In a separate post on his Truth Social platform, Trump urged that "someone tell Pope Leo about Iran killing protesters, and that Iran's possession  of a nuclear bomb is absolutely unacceptable."

On Tuesday evening, J.D. Vance, the U.S. vice president who converted to Catholicism in 2019, said that "the pope made a mistake when he said that the disciples of Christ never stand by those who wielded the sword in the past and are throwing bombs today... "It is very, very important that the Pope be careful when he talks about theological issues."

Liu responded to Trump's previous attacks by saying he was "not afraid of the Trump administration and will continue to express his views." In a powerful speech on Monday in Algiers, the pope denounced "neo-colonial" world powers that he said were violating international law, without mentioning specific countries.
