America and Iran: The War of Proposals!

America and Iran: The War of Proposals!

Afrasianet - Since the announcement of the ceasefire between the United States/Israel and Iran on April 7, and the failure of the round of negotiations that was scheduled to be held in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, the diplomatic field has witnessed a "war of proposals" between the two sides, the latest of which was a US proposal that responded to an Iranian proposal a few days earlier.

This prompted Pakistan, the main mediator between the two parties, to declare optimism that an agreement was imminent, and it was also remarkable that the Israeli media participated in the likelihood of this possibility (although it is said that the Israeli forces maintained their level of readiness to resume the war).

In the new US proposal to temporarily halt enrichment in conjunction with the lifting of sanctions and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Tasnim News Agency highlighted the focus of the previous Iranian proposal on ending the war, providing guarantees, the US military withdrawal and postponing negotiations on the nuclear file.

The American proposal used the term "end the war" but preserved Washington's "right" to resume the blockade or military operations in the event of the failure of negotiations, and Iran's proposal faced a 5-year moratorium on enrichment, with a 20-year moratorium, thus opening the door for a possible settlement between 12 and 15 years while trying to overcome Iran's demand to recognize its right to peaceful enrichment.

The U.S. blockade as an essential part of ending the war as Washington proposes a gradual lifting of the blockade with the possibility of reimposing it if negotiations collapse.

The American proposal also refers to a sharp divergence on the issue of the presence of US forces near Iran, and in America's clear lack of commitment not to the blockade and the resumption of military operations, and this ignorance also applies to Tehran's demand to prevent Israel from attacking again.

While the distance seems to be less on the issue of regional fronts, which Iran demands to be included in the truce, which is less important to Washington, but its tracks The paper also shows divergent points on the duration and extent of the enrichment stop.

Whether it will be negotiated immediately or postponed, whether Iran gets the right to peaceful enrichment, whether U.S. forces will withdraw from Iran's periphery, whether the U.S. and Israel provide guarantees of non-aggression, whether the U.S. will pay reparations for the war, and whether it has the right to resume the blockade or war if the negotiations fail.

The opening of the strait, the lifting of the blockade, the release of funds, the start of negotiations, while the points of divergence are sovereign and security and determine the balance of power in the region and the world.

A ceasefire will ease global tension and represent a needed breakthrough for the region and the global economy, but the causes of the war will remain effective and largely tied to the nature of the ruling elites in America and Israel. And in Iran as well.
