Afrasianet - A military parade was held in Moscow's Red Square to mark the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany and its allies, attended by President Vladimir Putin and a number of heads of state and veterans. 


The parade began with the display of the victory flag and the flag of the Russian Federation along Red Square. 


Defense Minister Andrei Belasov inspected the troops participating in the parade, which represent the types and formations of the Russian army of all kinds, and saluted each of them separately. 


He then headed to the main podium, where he announced to President Vladimir Putin, in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the Russian military, that the troops were ready for the parade.


Putin delivered his speech on the occasion and stressed the value of the great sacrifices made by Soviet soldiers to rid the world of Nazism.

In this context, President Vladimir Putin affirmed the full unanimity of Russia and its partners in their honest stance towards their unified history, the responsibility of highlighting the facts of World War II, and protecting them from falsification.


"It is important to thwart attempts to falsify the events of World War II and glorify the Nazis and their collaborators," Putin said at a reception marking the 81st anniversary of the Kremlin today.


"They are responsible for the suffering and death of millions of civilians, and it is our duty to prevent the justification of the genocide of Soviet citizens and other atrocities, committed by Nazi war criminals, who were unequivocally condemned by the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal that do not lapse the statute of limitations."


"We must start from the principle of equal and indivisible security and take into account the cultural and civilizational diversity of the peoples of the world and their right to self-determination," he said.


"We must follow the traditions and commandments of our ancestors, as we have all inherited from them the responsibility of maintaining and maintaining peace," he added.


President Putin expressed confidence that the most just multipolar structure that is taking shape in the world today must be based on the norms of the Charter of the United Nations in its entirety and comprehensiveness.


In his speech at the beginning of the parade, Putin congratulated the Russian people and the participants in the victory parade, and reiterated that the Soviet people made a decisive contribution to the defeat of Nazism, and restored sovereignty to the countries that surrendered to Germany and became accomplices in the crimes of fascism and aggression against the Soviet Union.

The orchestra played the Russian national anthem to mark the start of the performance.


•    The performance was presented by students of the Institute of Musical Conductors and military orchestras.


Students from the Pacific Naval College, where more than 20,000 students serving in the Russian army's fleets have graduated, marched.


•    North Korean soldiers marched in a victory parade.


•    Units from the Military Academy of the Missile Forces and the Strategic Research Center marched.


•    The parade was attended by students of the Air Forces College, many of whom received decorations during the military operation in Ukraine.


•    The students of the Moscow Higher Military Academy concluded the infantry parade, recounting the feat of their ancestors who stood in an impregnable wall that protected Moscow from the hordes of fascists in the Great Patriotic War.


•    The show concluded with 6 Su-25 planes flying the colors of the Russian flag in the skies of Moscow. 


•    At the end of the parade, President Putin shook hands with officers and veterans on the main stage of the celebration.
