Trump talks about a drug that revives the dead. Activists mock

Afrasianet - U.S. President Donald Trump sparked controversy when he made a passing statement that a new drug (his name has not been released) could bring dead patients back to the living world.

In the video circulating, Trump said: "We dealt with people who were dead. We had someone who had received the last rites, and he went, and his children were crying and everything, and then we started giving him this medicine, and his condition improved and he came back to life. He is working."

Although this statement was made a week ago, it spread widely again amid a great wave of surprise, especially since any such statement would have triggered days of intensive media coverage, as a revealing turning point in the history of medicine.

Returning to the video, Trump was talking about  the Right to Try Act, legislation passed during his first term that allows end-stage patients to try treatments that may be considered too risky or inadequately tested.

But Trump, in his stereotypical style, seems to have taken the idea of a desperate patient suddenly improving (which is rare but sometimes happens), and exaggerated it to such an extent, that it made it look like it was taken out of a science fiction movie or a zombie story.

Activists scoffed at the statement, with one writing: "Maybe he was the patient he was talking about."

Another quipped: "Grandpa Orange is losing his mind. Do the dead come back to life? Is he sure that Steven Miller didn't bite these people in the neck and then come back to life?".

The "Right to Try" law itself is causing widespread controversy among experts. The medical journal "Stat" reported in 2024 that patients already had the option of turning to experimental treatments before the law was passed.

In addition, critics of the law argue that it undermines patients' right to access justice if they are exploited by unqualified doctors at a moment of extreme weakness.

A number of satirical images of Trump have gone viral on the X platform.
