Half a year since the Gaza Agreement. Israeli Violations and Catastrophic Humanitarian Situation

International and human rights organizations have sounded the alarm warning of the worsening of the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip.

Afrasianet - Abd Al Raouf Zaqout - Six months have passed since the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, but Israel continues its violations, whether on the ground by near-daily shelling, or even by repudiating provisions related to the humanitarian aspect, aid and reconstruction, amid international warnings of the worsening of the situation in the Strip.

The Gaza Agreement came into effect on October 10, 2025, the result of a long and complex negotiation process, two years after  Israel's genocidal  war on the Strip.

Field breaches

Medical and government sources in Gaza confirm that Israeli violations, since the announcement of the ceasefire, have exceeded 2,000 violations, resulting in the death of 738 Palestinians and the injury of 2,036.

One of the latest victims of these violations was Al-Jazeera Mubasher's correspondent in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Washah, who was martyred following a bombing targeting the car he was riding in in the western Gaza Strip, which Al-Jazeera described as a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and a continuation of a systematic policy of targeting journalists and silencing the voice of truth.

The cumulative toll of victims of the Israeli genocide since October 7, 2023, has reached 72,317 martyrs and 172,158 injured, including 262 journalists, according to the Ministry of Health and the Government Information Office in Gaza.

The Yellow Line and the Militias

In addition to the ongoing shelling and targeting,  the Israeli army continues  to move the so-called "yellow line" towards residential areas in the Gaza Strip, in addition to releasing militias in Gaza to carry out assassinations in the cities.

In a previous interview on Al Jazeera, Israeli affairs expert Muhannad Mustafa said that these militias facilitate access to areas under the control of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), where it is difficult for Israeli units such as the "Arabist Unit" to move around without being detected, making local agents a suitable tool to carry out tasks ranging from assassination to causing chaos.

Mustafa also pointed out that these militias play organizational and administrative roles, such as participating in the management  of the Rafah crossing, and classifying Palestinians entering and exiting the Gaza Strip, to become a "shadow government" under the supervision of the occupation, which doubles its military and political influence in Gaza, as he described it.

It is noteworthy that the Yellow Line is the areas occupied by the Israeli army inside the Gaza Strip during the war on the Gaza Strip, and refuses to withdraw from them, imposing a buffer zone through it or what is known as the "security belt" that extends along the eastern and northern borders of the Gaza Strip.

Catastrophic humanitarian situation

A recent report released on Friday by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) shed  light on the catastrophic conditions of the population in the Gaza Strip.

"Six months after the implementation of the fragile and ineffective ceasefire in Gaza, MSF is sounding the alarm about continued violent attacks  by Israeli forces and the ever-expanding military control over the enclave. At the same time, the living conditions of Palestinians remain deteriorating, amid a persistent and deliberate pattern of obstruction of aid by Israel."

Claire Sanfilippo, MSF's emergency director, noted that the ceasefire "has failed to end the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, with the Israeli authorities continuing to impose conditions aimed at destroying living conditions, despite the reduction in the intensity of the violence, but Israeli attacks continue and the situation remains catastrophic, and the needs of the people are enormous, yet the Israeli authorities have continued to systematically restrict humanitarian access."

"People in Gaza are suffering from a lack of clean water, food, electricity, and access to health care, as the crumbling health system is further suffocated by the obstruction of aid, and Israel revoked the registration of 37 international NGOs providing vital aid in Gaza, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)," she said.

"At the same time, Israel is also preventing most medical evacuations of patients in need of specialized care outside Gaza. Currently, more than 18,500 people in Gaza remain on the medical evacuation list, including 4,000 children, according to the World Health Organization.

The report stated that 90% of the population of the Gaza Strip has been forcibly displaced several times, often living in tents or temporary shelters, noting that the situation has not improved much since the ceasefire.

The report pointed out that the area where people live in the Gaza Strip is constantly shrinking, stressing that "the Yellow Line, which makes up about 58% of the Gaza Strip's area, is not clearly defined, and is constantly turning west into the sea, putting pressure on hundreds of thousands of people in a small patch of land that is densely populated, where the perimeter of the Yellow Line has become a killing zone."

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) called on world leaders and governments, including the United States , the European Union , its member states, and Arab states, to use all political means to pressure the Israeli authorities to protect civilians, restore decent living conditions, and urgently allow unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza, stressing that this is also the duty of Israel as an occupying power.

Collapse of humanitarian protocol

In this context, the Gaza Center for Human Rights stressed that the Israeli occupation continues to violate the humanitarian protocol, especially with regard to the entry of aid, indicating that the agreement stipulates the entry of 600 trucks daily, stressing that what actually enters does not exceed 39% of this number, with a serious decrease in the entry of fuel to only about 14.9% of the required quantities, which contributes to the disruption of basic services, especially electricity, water and sanitation, and deepens the humanitarian crisis.

In a statement on Friday, PCHR said that these accumulated Israeli violations represent a grave violation of the ceasefire agreement and the provisions of international humanitarian law, and constitute clear evidence of the lack of will on the part of the occupation to abide by its commitments.

According to the Gaza State Information Office, Israel is not abiding by the humanitarian protocol in the ceasefire agreement, as it does not do the following:

•    Enter the supposed numbers of different trucks.

•    Commitment to the withdrawal lines from the Gaza Strip.

•    Introducing materials for infrastructure maintenance.

•    Introducing heavy equipment to the Civil Defense to remove rubble and retrieve the bodies of the martyrs.

•    Introduction of health and medical equipment and supplies and medicines.

•    The opening of the Rafah crossing as agreed.

•    Introduction of tents, mobile homes and shelter materials.

•    Power plant operation.

It is worth mentioning that the rate of destruction in the Gaza Strip, according to international reports, has reached about 90% of the total buildings and facilities, and statistics indicate that there are more than 42 million tons of rubble, a huge amount  that the United Nations describes  as a "complex and dangerous" process to remove it, given that it contains unexploded ordnance and bodies that have not yet been recovered.

The total direct economic losses to the Gaza Strip are estimated at about $70 billion, and this figure does not include the indirect losses represented in the shutdown of the economic wheel and the loss of jobs, but focuses on the cost of the physical reconstruction of vital sectors that have been systematically exterminated, as the war has erased decades of Palestinian development and restored the Gaza Strip to living standards not seen in 60 years.
