Afrasianet - The fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime and the victory of the Syrian revolution marked a turning point, as the political leadership of the new Syrian state moved from the logic of the revolution to the logic of the state.
This was represented in opening the doors of communication with various countries of the world, especially the active countries, including the parties that supported the regime until the moment of its fall, and the new authority worked to reopen the channels of relations with China when President Ahmed al-Shara, in February 2025, took the initiative to meet with the Chinese ambassador in Damascus, almost two months after the victory of the revolution, and discussed the prospects of promising relations between Syria and China at all levels.
This was part of the ability of the new Syrian state and China to act according to the political developments in Syria and work to activate the joint relations for promising prospects.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani's response to the invitation to visit China was a direct and clear expression of the Syrian and Chinese countries of their deliberation on the issues of reconstruction and participation in the construction of Syria economically and at all levels.
Their meeting and the signals issued were China's support for the new rule in Syria and its support for its territorial and people's unity in the face of any calls or divisive practices.
Al-Shaibani's statement on "One China" refers to Taiwan and rejects any separation from Mother China, as well as confronting any harm to China's national security in reference to the Chinese Uyghur fighters who participated in the Syrian revolution, as if it is an implicit pledge that they will not have any negative role against China and its interests, as well as the two parties' affirmation of respect for the sovereignty of countries and non-interference in their internal affairs.
Therefore, it is to go to China and weave the bonds of economic relations at all levels and invite them to contribute to the reconstruction and construction, as a Chinese ship carrying construction materials to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria docked at the port of Baniyas.
This rapprochement comes in light of the United States of America's attempt to control the political and economic paths of Syria according to the same American perspective that governs the capabilities of the peoples and controls their destiny, but this Syrian-Chinese rapprochement will never be in the interest of the United States of America, but it will be the exact opposite, as China seeks through these relations to control Syria's future paths and perhaps the paths of the region through economic domination, especially from the reconstruction approach, which is an urgent need for Syria. It will harm the American interest and make the American action weaker not only in Syria but in the region in general.
The Chinese action may fall within the conflict between the Chinese and American giants, and what is stipulated in the documents that included the details of the China-Syrian cooperation confirms that China will have the largest share in Syria's future policies, including in the region's policies in general. It is not possible to know or predict the American reactions to China's moves in the region and how to confront them.
Below we publish the Syrian-Chinese cooperation documents:
