Bully, pathetic and childish: Trump mocks his allies

Afrasianet - U.S. President Donald Trump has mocked British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the latter's statement that his team should be consulted on sending two aircraft carriers — "old and dilapidated" — to Iran, saying they are not enough.

In a video circulated by British media, Trump was seen imitating Starmer in a pathetic voice, amid muffled laughter from the audience during the Easter luncheon, according to the British news agency PA Media.

Trump said Britain "should be the best ally of the United States," but said London had not been so in its last position. Referring to Starmer's refusal to allow Britain to be dragged into a potential conflict with Iran.

Trump has previously criticized British aircraft carriers as "toys" and "not the best", saying they are poorly prepared compared to the level required in military operations.

Trump criticizes Macron

Trump has also mocked French President Emmanuel Macron, noting that he is "still recovering" from the effects of the famous slap he received from his wife, Brigitte, in a reference to his weak stance in the face of pressure.

Trump's comments are part of a series of attacks by his administration on European allies, and after Trump was angered by European countries' refusal to send their navies to secure global navigation in the Strait of Hormuz after the air aggression against Iran began on Feb. 28, saying he was "considering withdrawing from the alliance."

Trump turns political rift with France into personal dispute with its president

The US president has become an unusual phenomenon in the field of politics with his harsh rhetoric against those who disagree with him, which sometimes takes on a childish malice character.

French President Emmanuel Macron says that the statements made by US President Donald Trump about his private life are "not appropriate or at the required level".

Trump has become an unusual phenomenon in the field of politics and in the management of relations between countries, with his harsh rhetoric against his political opponents, those who disagree with him, and those who often do not respond to his unfair demands.

Trump is not content with breaking protocols and sometimes deviating from his decency in profane terms, but he goes beyond that to engage in malicious, often childish quarrels, such as what he said about his French counterpart, whose country, like many European powers, refused to engage in the war that Washington and Tel Aviv decided to wage against Iran without consulting their Western allies or even notifying them of the decision to fight it in advance.

"Macron, whose wife was treated very badly, is still recovering from a strong punch to his jaw," Trump said, referring to a video from May 2025 showing Brigitte Macron reaching for the president's face as they stepped off the presidential plane during their official visit to Vietnam.

The U.S. president was speaking at a private luncheon on Wednesday, criticizing NATO allies for not joining the war against Iran that has rocked the Middle East.

"We didn't need them, but I asked anyway," Trump said. "I called France. "We would like to get some help in the Gulf, even though we are breaking records in terms of the number of bad guys we eliminate and the number of ballistic missiles we destroy," Emanuel said. We'd like to get some help. If possible, can you send ships immediately?"

He continued, using a French accent to convey Macron's alleged answer: "No no no, we can't do that, Donald. We can do that after the war is over," he said, adding, "I told him no no, I don't need that, Emmanuel after the war is over."

In another context, the French president declared that the war in Iran does not solve the issue of Iran's nuclear program, calling for "in-depth negotiations."

"Targeted military action, even if it lasts only for a few weeks, will not provide a lasting solution to the nuclear issue," Macron said.

"If there is no framework for diplomatic and technical negotiations, the situation could deteriorate again in a matter of months or years," he added.
