I am afraid that we will wake up from the euphoria of defeating Trump and Netanyahu to a disaster

The results of the US and Israeli elections may push Trump and Netanyahu into new wars that will have dire consequences for the region.

Afrasianet - Oraib Al Rantawi - It can be said that the war that began in Gaza and did not end with Iran, and its repercussions on the pockets of Americans and the security of Israelis, have always been in the background of the electoral scene.

For the American voter, who twice led Trump to the White House, under the slogan of "America First" and ending wars instead of igniting them, his policies and adventures in the Middle East in particular were not welcomed by the electorate, including those who used to give their trust and votes to his Republican Party, which prompted a balanced section of them to carry their guns from shoulder to shoulder.

Unfortunately for Trump, his party, and his team, and perhaps for the good management of the Iranian leadership, which has been procrastinating and waiting for this entitlement, the midterm elections were held amid the noise of battleships and aircraft carriers, the threat of the use of "tactical nuclear" and "mother of bombs," and the increased risk of a slide into a protracted war, which will have the most severe consequences for energy, navigation, fertilizers, and supply chains.

"We are facing decisive months loaded with all kinds of dangers and threats, and on all open fronts, no one from Palestine to Iran should be struck by the  euphoria of the "slap" that the voters have directed at Trump and Netanyahu, and it is safer for these parties to keep all options on the table, instead of relying on the results of the ballot boxes alone"

There are other electoral factors and drivers, which should not be underestimated, that have shaped and shape the trends of American public opinion, at least at the local level, including the convulsive "divisive" rhetoric of Trump and his team, which is full of racism against non-white American components, as well as local concerns and concerns, related to this or that state, starting with the demand to remove surveillance cameras broadcast on the roads and streets, and the debate over breakfast and lunch in schools, and ending with the issues of the right to abortion and the legality of gender change for minors.

But what has become certain, and by the admission of Republicans before Democrats, is that the repercussions of the wars that have been raging since Gaza – the flood and the annihilation – have hit the Americans in their pockets and livelihoods, and have had a decisive effect on turning the scales upside down, and turning the scene on the heads of Zionist elites, who have controlled the decision of war and peace, at least since the famous meeting that brought together Netanyahu and the head of the Mossad, Trump and his team, in the White House operations room, to spark the war on February 28.

Since Gaza, with the admission of Kamala Harris, and a host of American experts and politicians, was the reason for the defeat of the Democrats in the 2024 elections, the "curse of Gaza", which extends to the shores of the Gulf, Caspian and Bab al-Mandeb, has inflicted a heavy loss on their opponents and rivals from the Republicans, and the first blow of this defeat began yesterday, and the fate of the 2028 elections has been decided.

As for Israel's elections, there is another story, which revolves around Netanyahu's personality and his limitless ambition to stay in power, even if the price is to continue absurd wars that serve nothing but killing and destroying, and inciting more of them, whenever there are signs of a breakthrough on the horizon.

The impact of Netanyahu's wars and their cost on the livelihood of the Israeli voter is no secret to anyone, and the detention of hundreds of thousands of reservists in camps and on the front lines for more than three years, has left the most serious damage to a large segment of Israelis, while the vast majority of them have a sense of individual and collective security, almost non-existent, as reliable and sober public opinion polls reveal.

If the results of the midterm elections made Trump a "lame duck," the results of the 26th Knesset elections have kept Netanyahu a "feathered peacock," and for some time he will continue to practice his old shows, but his image in public opinion appears different from what he has painted and promoted for years and decades.

The closer the time for the formation of the government and the coalition that will form it, the greater the chances of Eisenkot and the greater the chances of the dissolution of the fascist coalition, and the first grief of this disintegration began with the tendency of "Yehudut HaTorah" to tweet out of the swarm.

"If the results of the midterm elections made Trump a "lame duck", then the results of the 26th Knesset elections have kept Netanyahu a "peacock without feathers", he will continue for some time to practice his old parades, but his image in the eyes of the public appears different from what he has painted and promoted for years and decades"

Wounded Wolves

This does not mean for a moment that the dangers facing Gaza, Palestine, the Gulf, and the entire region have faded, that the threat of the coming war has faded, and that the omens of the triumph of reason and diplomacy have increased.

We will not rule out the possibility that Trump, a volatile man haunted by an "inflated ego", will avenge his heavy loss at home by renewing his wars abroad; he is free from the constraints of elections and their ramifications, and he has the power and powers to continue his aggressive, unjustified and illegitimate actions, and he already has a window of time that extends until next January.

During this period, and even after it has passed, he will be able to commit more reckless acts, because the American presidential system leaves him with powers, which makes him able to wage wars, even if he gives them different names (military operations), in order to circumvent a constitution that does not allow the declaration of war without the approval of Congress.

As for Netanyahu, he will bring out all the cards and tricks in the "magician's hat" to demonize the elections, challenge their results, distort the Arab parliamentarians, and even the entire Arab society, and block the opposition's outstretched policy adopted by the two Arab blocs, united and joint.

If he is destined to persuade Trump to go to a new war against Iran, during consultations to form a new government, and to use him to pressure his opponents to obey the option of a "rotation government and national unity," he will not hesitate to do so, as war may be Netanyahu's shortcut to attack the election results.

"We will not lose sight of the possibility that Trump, a volatile man haunted by an "inflated ego", will avenge his heavy loss at home by renewing his wars abroad; he is free from the constraints and ramifications of elections, and he has the power and powers to continue his aggressive, unjustified and illegitimate actions"

He gambled to give up "$4 billion a year" provided to Israel by the US administrations, both Republican and Democratic, in order to strengthen the position of his electoral ally and in the hope that he would be rewarded with the best of his ability, either in terms of continuing to exert pressure to keep him in power, under the guise of a "unity government", or in terms of going to a new wave of war against Iran and its allies.

The sooner the opposition camp realizes this fact, acts inspired by it, and abandons its "hidden surplus of racism," as evidenced by Bennett and Lieberman in particular, will be in favor of the project of overthrowing the "King of Israel," who ruled it for 19 years, as no one has done before.

In this sense, we are facing decisive months loaded with all dangers and all kinds of threats, and on all open fronts, no one, from Palestine to Iran, should be struck by the euphoria of the "slap" that the voters have directed at Trump and Netanyahu, and it is safer for these parties to keep all options on the table, instead of relying on the results of the ballot boxes alone.

In the medium and long term, Gaza, Palestine, and the wider region have tasted bitterness under the Democrats, and the Republicans have tasted the horrors of war under Netanyahu, and may taste it again in the Eisenkot era, and we must realize that there are only limited differences between the two competing camps, whether in the United States or in Israel, that differentiate between their major orientations and strategies, and that those who wait for the "antidote" from a democratic Washington, or Tel Aviv without Netanyahu, will have to wait a long time.

I think that a long or short time will pass before the transformations in American public opinion in particular, and Israeli public opinion to a lesser extent, begin to bear fruit, and force the ruling elites on both sides of the "unholy strategic alliance" to adopt different approaches and policies that take into account the minimum aspirations and longings of the people of Palestine and the peoples of the region.

We say this, and we acknowledge the right of the people of Gaza and the peoples of the region to celebrate, and even "heal", that those who caused the Nakba and the disasters that befell it received unforgettable slaps by their constituents and constituents, leading to their removal from the scene of governance and politics, glorifying them with the shame of genocide, purging and terror, even if they will receive alternatives, elites and parties that are more of a cause for concern than a cause for reassurance and satisfaction.
