Why is the Palestinian angry?.. The Tale of a House, Land and Olive

Afrasianet - Omar Fares - Imagine that one day the Israeli occupation soldiers storm your house.

You're not at war. You're at home, the place that's supposed to be the safest place for you and your family.

And all of a sudden, you see the Israeli occupation soldiers tearing down walls, destroying your property, destroying the place where you lived and where your children grew up.

A Palestinian woman sits in front of her house, parts of which were demolished by the occupation in Tulkarm refugee camp in the West Bank.

Imagine someone coming to your land, pouring cement into your well and burying the water source your family has relied on for so many years.

Imagine seeing the olive trees planted by your father, and perhaps your grandfather before him, burned and uprooted before your eyes.

To destroy your farm, your car, and your property, and to turn the place that once gave you safety becomes a constant source of fear and anxiety.

Then someone comes and says to you: Forget about it, and get over what happened.

How will you feel? Helpless? Angry? Fear? Pain?

Now imagine that this doesn't happen all at once, but happens again and again until it becomes part of your daily life; living knowing that your home, land, trees, and livelihood can be a target at any moment.

This is not a fairy tale. It is an experience that many Palestinians live under Israeli occupation.

• Behind every home is a family.

• Behind every olive tree is a memory.

• Behind every well is life.

• Behind every demolished wall is a story of a man.

So, before you ask: Why is the Palestinian angry?

First, ask: How much injustice can a person endure? How much pain can he store in his heart before the world hears his voice?

The Palestinian does not need anyone to ask him to forget.

He needs justice, his voice to be heard, and his human rights and dignity to be respected.
