Genocides committed or sponsored by the West have often been a very lucrative business.

Whether it was against the Native American population of the United States throughout most of the nineteenth century, the colonization of the Congo by King Leopold El of Belgium, or the Nazi Holocaust, many individuals and businesses benefited greatly from humanity's worst crimes—through direct involvement or through the provision of services and support.

A new report by Francesca Albanese, the courageous UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, names more than 60 mostly Western companies that have benefited from repression, genocide and other war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.

These crimes, fully empowered by the United States and with the broad support of a handful of Western governments, were committed in the face of global condemnation and outrage.

Many legal entities have benefited from the Israeli economy from illegal occupation, apartheid, and now genocide. The complicity revealed by the report is just the tip of the iceberg," Albanese wrote in the report, titled From the Economy of Occupation to the Economy of Genocide.

"The corporate sector has contributed materially to this endeavor by supplying Israel with the weapons and machinery needed to destroy homes, schools, hospitals, places of entertainment, worship, livelihoods, and productive assets."

The U.S. defense company Lockheed Martin has provided some of the most destructive weapons used in Gaza. Ubiquitous flying killing machines such as drones, helicopter hexagons, and quadcopters used techniques from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
