Afrasianet - Ahmed Abd El , Rahman -  What does the occupation seek to achieve by expanding the Netzarim axis, and is the only goal to secure its forces at this checkpoint, which block the road between the north and the south to prevent the return of the displaced to their homes?

The southern area of Gaza City, especially the part extending from Salah al-Din Street in the east, to Al-Rasheed Street, "Al-Bahar", in the west, can be seen as the only area in the Gaza Strip in which Israeli military operations have not stopped for a single moment, as they have witnessed, and continue to witness, throughout the days of the crazy occupation war on the Gaza Strip, continuous Israeli attacks, shelling and destruction that hardly cease, even for one day, and have become, as described by its residents who forcibly displaced it due to aggression, the area. Which is not absent from the war.

The southern area, which includes the largest and most populated cities in the Gaza Strip, can be divided into several areas, so that according to the definitions of the Gaza municipality's maps, it follows several neighborhoods spread on this vital and sensitive section from the south of the city, as the Zeitoun neighborhood, the largest neighborhood of the city, represents the largest area in this section, and the southern boundaries of the neighborhood extend from the "eastern asphalt" area in the east, all the way to the "Dahdouh roundabout" in the west.

This area amounts to about 60% of the total area of the southern city borders, while the rest of the border area is occupied by the neighborhoods of Tal Al-Hawa and Sheikh Ajlin, so that the former is characterized by its high residential towers, while the second is famous for its fertile agricultural land, which provides a large part of the northern basket of vegetables and fruits, especially grape and fig fruits.

In the first months of the war,  the occupation army focused its operational effort on the Tel al-Hawa area, as that area, which was subjected to an unprecedented barrage of air, sea and artillery bombardments, was the gateway for the Israeli ground forces to enter the depth of Gaza City, after its war machine destroyed most of its residential towers, and burned one of the most important hospitals in the Gaza Strip, which is Al-Quds Hospital, which turned at that time into a shelter for thousands of citizens, as is the case with schools in its vicinity, which was Newly built with a donation from Arab charities.

After the occupation army moved to what it called the third phase of its military operations in the northern Gaza Strip, and in view of the presence of the Netzarim military checkpoint at the southern edge of the Gaza City border, a new phase of Israeli military operations began, represented by the establishment of a buffer zone with an area of up to two kilometers in both directions, whether from its northern side, in the direction of Gaza City, or, as happened later, on its southern side in the direction of the town of Al-Mughraqa and the cities of Al-Assira and Al-Zahra, all the way to the new camp north of Nuseirat in the center of the Gaza Strip. About six months ago, hundreds of houses, facilities and farms began to be blown up, destroyed and bulldozed, especially in the Sheikh Ajleen area, the far west of the city, which turned into a barren area without houses or agricultural land, in addition to destroying dozens of groundwater wells, which were the backbone of life in this area with sandy soil, and then moved in a more easterly direction, where the southern areas of the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood, especially those located south of Street No. 8, and carried out the same procedures. He carried out it in the Sheikh Ajlin area, with a focus on the perimeter of the University College of Applied Sciences, which contains many high-rise buildings, which, according to the Israeli classification, pose a threat to his forces in the vicinity of the Netzarim pass.

As for the Zeitoun neighborhood, which was previously subjected to four large-scale incursions, during which dozens of houses were destroyed and burned in it, in addition to its only medical center, the bombing and destruction operations at that time were limited to the areas adjacent to Street No. 10, with the transformation of the area extending from this street in the south to Street No. 8 in the north, which represents almost half of the area of the neighborhood into a buffer zone by firepower, as everyone who tries to reach it is targeted, whether through artillery stationed in "Bayara Abu Oraiban" southeast of the neighborhood, or through drones that do not leave the sky of the neighborhood at all, in addition to quad copters, which have become a nightmare for citizens, especially because of their small size and difficulty to see, in addition to the speed of their movement and flying at low altitudes, which makes surviving their bombs and bullets almost impossible.

After the remarkable development that took place in the last two months through the announcement by the occupation army of its intention to expand the buffer zone around the Netzarim corridor to four kilometers from both sides, a new phase of bombing and destruction operations began, which included in its first phase and continues since that announcement hundreds of houses south of the Tel Al-Hawa area, with a focus again on the vicinity of the University College and the Al-Quds Mosque, with a longitudinal expansion from the south towards the north, so that these operations were accompanied by the expansion of the Israeli circle of fire. Which reached the southern outskirts of the Sabra neighborhood, all the way to the industrial and university area, where the occupation penetrated more than once after being subjected to deadly ambushes by the Palestinian resistance factions, which in turn did not stop targeting its forces operating in that area, or even those in the Netzarim corridor through mortars and short-range rockets, and finally with suicide drones.

Another remarkable development began about eight days ago, as the operations of the occupation army aimed at expanding the safety area around the Netzarim corridor moved to the southern areas of the Zeitoun neighborhood, which was not satisfied with their fire control of that area, as mentioned above, but also began to carry out the demolition, demolition and bulldozing of dozens of houses in the area extending from Street No. 10, to Street No. 9, which is located halfway between Streets 8 and 10, which is a new street Its east-west route has not been completely built like the two streets mentioned above, as some parts of it cut off agricultural land and residential buildings, as it was built a short time ago, and it takes a long time to officially open.

This street, which many residents of Al-Zaytoun neighborhood have not heard of, and do not know where it starts and where it ends, except for those who live in its vicinity, extends from Salah al-Din Street in the east along the "Yaziji Bakery", passing through the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque in the middle of it, to Al-Rashid Street in the west, and is separated from the Netzarim corridor by an area of two kilometers, which is the area to which the occupation army wants to expand the circle of safety. Thus, according to Israeli plans, Route 9 became the northern border. For the new buffer zone with its updated area, which means the removal of all buildings, facilities and farms located within this perimeter, and the transformation of the area into barren and barren land, which is now happening at an accelerated pace.

Here, the most important question arises: What does the occupation seek to achieve from this expansion of the Netzarim axis, and is the only goal to secure its forces present at this checkpoint, which block the road between the north and the south to prevent the return of the displaced to their homes and homes in the northern region of the Gaza Strip?

Such a goal requires only one checkpoint on Salah al-Din Street and another on al-Rashid Street, as was the case during the first and second intifadas, or is there another, more important goal that pushes the occupation forces to exert all this operational and continuous effort, and the resulting losses in their ranks as a result of the Palestinian resistance operations?

I believe that the development of events on the ground indicates something more important, which we have referred to since the beginning of the war, and which is now clearer, and it is mainly related to the desire of the Zionist occupation army to remain in this vital and sensitive axis for a long time to come, regardless of what the developments in the file of stalled ceasefire negotiations, which have become more absurd.

This means that there is no sincere Israeli desire to leave the territory of the Gaza Strip even if an agreement is reached, especially since the construction taking place in the areas classified by Israel as buffer clearly indicates a desire to remain there in a sustainable manner. In addition, what is happening indicates, in an inexplicable manner, that the occupation, by a political decision, is proceeding with its plans aimed at destroying the largest possible area of urban and agricultural areas in the Gaza Strip. It takes place in the south of Gaza City, and its counterparts on the other side in the town of Al-Mughraqa and the cities of Al-Aseer and Al-Zahra, in the areas east of Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah, and the southern and eastern borders of Rafah, in addition to the cities of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya, which have become empty on their thrones due to Israeli crimes.

Strategically, all of these developments can be seen as in the interest of the stated desire of the Hebrew "state" to turn the besieged and small enclave into an uninhabitable place.

Unfortunately, attempts to reach this goal have come a long way, and they are in full swing, in a systematic and deliberate manner, through which it is hoped that the Palestinian population will emigrate and leave their lands "voluntarily", after all Zionist efforts have failed to push them to go towards this option by force of fire and gunpowder. From the north to the middle of the Gaza Strip, with the Netzarim axis as a first stage, and then expanding south if conditions permit.

In any case, despite all the plans and conspiracies, which is translated by the operations of the enemy "army" through the destruction, demolition and blowing up of Palestinian homes and facilities, in addition to the current mobilization of more Israeli military forces, which were previously withdrawn in the seam areas, especially in the Netzarim axis, where a lot of information indicates the arrival of large Israeli crowds there, in reference to the expansion of the area of military operations in Despite all this, the reality on the ground says that all the plans that are being hatched, and all the scenarios that are being prepared, will fall under the feet of the heroes of the resistance, who are engaged in the epic of honor and heroism despite their limited capabilities, and the siege that surrounds them from all sides, especially in the northern region of the Gaza Strip, which is subjected to a double war of extermination. The weapon of hunger is used alongside other weapons of killing and destruction, such as planes, cannons and tanks, and thousands of elite forces are thrown into the occupation army, which yesterday witnessed some of the strength of the heroes of the resistance in the Zeitoun neighborhood, where booby-trapped houses fell on their heads and turned them into pieces.
