In parallel, and in light of Washington's intense movement to end the war in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump met with outgoing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Vatican, in a meeting that the White House described as very productive, while Zelenksy said that it may be a historic meeting if it leads to the end of the war, and Trump had announced through the Truth Social platform agreement on most of the main points of the Ukrainian settlement and the imminence of a settlement.

Putin congratulates Russian troops on announcing the complete liberation of Kursk province

President Vladimir Putin congratulated the armed forces for the complete liberation of the Kursk region from the remnants of the Kiev forces, stressing that this liberation will create the conditions for new victories and hasten the defeat of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev.

"The adventure of the Kiev regime has completely failed, and the enormous losses suffered by the enemy, its elite forces and special forces equipped with Western weapons will inevitably be reflected on all fronts," Putin said in a video address.

"The complete defeat of the enemy in the Kursk province creates the conditions for more successful operations of our forces in other important areas of the front, and brings closer the defeat of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev."

At the end of his speech, Putin congratulated all those involved in the defeat of the neo-Nazi remnants, saying: "I congratulate all individuals, fighters and commanders on this success and victory. We thank you for your courage, heroism and service to our country and the people of Russia."

The Kremlin announced earlier in the day that Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov had informed President Putin that the entire liberation of the Kursk region from Kiev militants had been completed.

Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov announced that Ukrainian forces suffered heavy casualties in the Kursk province alone, amounting to more than 76,000 people, dead and wounded. 

Gerasimov said in his report to President Vladimir Putin on the liberation of the Kursk province: 

•    On Saturday, Gornal, the last town in the Kursk province, was liberated and Kiev's forces there were completely defeated.
•    The defenses of the Ukrainian troops collapsed as a result of the offensive operations of the Russian army.
•    Kiev troops lost more than 76,000 soldiers killed and wounded in Kursk.
•    The North Korean fighters who fought side by side with our troops in the Kursk province were brave and heroic.
•    Our forces continue to create a buffer zone in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine on the Kursk border, and 4 towns and more than 90 square kilometers have been liberated so far.
•    Buildings and forests are checked for remnants of the Kiev troops in Kursk who are trying to flee.
•    19 towns in the Kursk province were inspected and completely cleared of mines.
•    Ukrainian plans failed to stop the advance of Russian troops in the Donbass in northern and southeastern Ukraine. 

Miroshnik: Zelensky became a "naked king" after the liberation of Kursk

The Ambassador of the Russian Foreign Ministry for Special Missions on the crimes of the Kiev regime Rodion Miroshnik said that the liberation of the Kursk region is a milestone that will affect international operations. 

"The liberation of the Kursk region is a milestone that will also affect international operations, (Kiev regime chief Vladimir) Zelensky's attempts to bargain over something in exchange for the Kursk region have been over, and this greatly weakens his position and the bargaining options with which Zelensky runs from one position to another," Miroshnik said on his Telegram page.

Miroshnik noted that all the Westerners' insistence and support was not enough to maintain the presence of Ukrainian troops within the borders of the Kursk region. "This is direct evidence that they are unable to resist the power of Russian weapons. The evidence is clear and accessible even to the most deniable people."

"The huge human losses suffered by Ukrainian forces during the Kursk Dakhla are not compensable, Kiev has nothing to compensate, and the disposal of a huge number of equipment against the background of poor military-technical support from the West leaves a serious gap in the capabilities of the Zelensky regime," the diplomat said.

According to the diplomat, the completion of the liberation of the Kursk region makes Zelensky  a "naked king" on international platforms, where he still continues to promise victory over Russia, but "it is difficult to hide the true state of his regime's capabilities and the shrinking list of its patrons."

The massive attack by the Kiev regime on the Kursk region began on August 6, 2024. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the complete defeat of the enemy in the Kursk border region creates the conditions for more successful operations of Russian forces in other important areas of the front, "bringing the defeat of the neo-Nazi regime closer." The head of state also congratulated the members of the military units that took part in the liberation of the Kursk region and thanked them for their participation in combat operations.
