Afrasianet - The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service said that the United States continues to use Islamic groups under its control in Syria to undermine the positions of the legitimate government.

This was stated by the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Naryshkin, and revealed that the Central Command of the American forces plans to form battalions of extremists to carry out hostilities against the Syrian government.

In this context, he explained, the United States plans to provide Islamic organizations in Syria with dozens of four-wheel drive vehicles equipped with large-caliber artillery, as well as portable air defense systems.

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service indicated in a statement that the coordination of this sabotage activity is being managed from the US military base in "Al-Tanf" in Homs Governorate.

In this context, she said, the United States plans to "carry out operations against government forces and state structures in Syria, and representatives of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces, along with intelligence officers, will participate in this." The Russian intelligence service indicated that "the purpose of this criminal activity is to undermine the situation in Syria."

It added that ISIS elements were tasked with igniting hostilities in southwestern Syria (the governorates of As-Suwayda and Daraa), in the center of the country (Homs) and east of the Euphrates River (Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor).

The statement said that it is planned to "form several detachments of extremists, with a total number of about 300 individuals. After special training, they will participate in attacks on Syrian and Iranian military installations," he added, adding that "part of the terrorists will be assigned by their sponsors to carry out tasks in the capital, including the kidnapping of Russian and Iranian military personnel."
