There is a joint Jordanian-Russian committee that meets periodically to follow up on areas of joint cooperation, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism, transport and energy. Meetings between His Majesty the King and Russian President Vladimir Putin are taking place regularly.

This gave these relations momentum, strength and credibility, which contributed to developing cooperation and coordinating efforts to reach political solutions to conflicts in the region based on the principles of peace, security and development.

His Majesty stressed the importance of Russia’s role in the region, pointing out that without that role in the peace process or in Syria and others, there would be no opportunity to make progress, while the Russian President stressed the importance of the Hashemite guardianship over the holy sites in Jerusalem, and the importance of the meetings that will be held between the Jordanian and Russian sides.

Because of its positive impact on strengthening bilateral relations in various fields. Prior to that, and on January 25, 2017, the King’s talks with the Russian President in Moscow focused on the regional situation, especially with regard to the Syrian situation, in addition to bilateral relations.

With regard to the Syrian crisis, and the fight against terrorism. In this regard, His Majesty stressed that "the Russian role will contribute to overcoming challenges, and without the Russian role, we will not be able to reach a solution not only to the Syrian crisis, but also to other crises in the region."

In this context, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. Al-Safadi said, "The meeting comes within the framework of the continuous process of consultation and coordination between two friendly countries that are seeking diligently to develop bilateral cooperation between them in various fields to build on the prospects, achievements and outputs that have been achieved through years of joint work within the framework of this strong relationship established by His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Vladimir Putin is based on transparency, trust and keenness to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

Jordan affirms that the relationship with the Russian Federation is a historical one based on strategic partnership, and stresses the importance of the role that Russia plays in laying the foundations for peace and stability in the region, and contributing to finding peaceful solutions to its problems.

Jordan stressed working with Russia to find a real horizon for a return to serious and effective negotiations on the Palestinian issue towards the two-state solution, "which is in grave danger as a result of Israeli measures that undermine it." He expressed his agreement with the Russian side on the importance of activating the International Quartet and its role in achieving peace.

In recent years, Moscow has become increasingly involved in Middle Eastern issues, including the Russian intervention in the Syrian crisis, its contribution to fighting terrorist organizations, and reaching agreements on de-escalation zones.

This has led to a reduction in violence in many areas of Syria, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Collaboration in many fields According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs,

Jordan and Russia signed an agreement to build a nuclear power plant. To develop cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism, His Majesty King Abdullah II gave Russia a plot of land near the Al-Maghats area, on which a church was built, which contributed to the increase in the number of Christian pilgrims to this historical religious site.

Russia has a major role in receiving thousands of Jordanian students who have studied in its universities and, after their graduation, contributed to building Jordan.

The President of the Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, pointed out during his meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom, Gleb Desyatnikov, the importance of activating and upgrading investment and trade relations between the two countries.

Based on the strategic relations between the two friendly countries. Al-Fayez called for opening the Russian market to Jordanian exports and agricultural products, lowering fees for entering the Russian market, and removing any obstacles to activating bilateral agreements related to economic, tourism and investment aspects.

On the level of the Palestinian issue, which has the strongest contact with Jordan and its political future, Russia has clearly opposed the so-called Isra-American pact of the century, even if Washington and Tel Aviv managed to turn it into an unfortunate reality in the form of one step, and harmed the 1994 Jordanian-Israeli peace treaty.

The Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in Palestine touched, despite its historical depth, which dates back to the era of the King of the Arabs and their sheriff, Hussein bin Ali, 1924. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem to the Security Council.

And it is Russia, which exposed the common American-Israeli falsehood when the Security Council refused to vote on the side of the ill-fated deal. And an overwhelming vote in favor of rejecting any legal change to the occupied city of Jerusalem, the size of (128) countries, by the countries accredited to the United Nations, led by Russia.

It is known that Russia is one of the most important countries demanding a two-state solution, and the adoption of East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine in accordance with United Nations and Security Council resolutions (181/194/242, 338) that include the June 4th borders.

On the other hand, the Arabs must bear politically their failure to put the Palestinian issue on the table for the Putin-Trump meeting in Helsinki, Finland, this year 2018, while Netanyahu preceded the meeting with a visit to Moscow and before it to Washington to obliterate the Palestinian cause, and succeeded in diverting America and Russia’s attention to the importance of helping Israel only.

After its military intervention, Russia was able to cooperate and coordinate with Jordan, and to turn the tables on the American military plan (B) that aimed to overthrow the Assad regime after putting the Arabs at the forefront of the project, so its military option and its pursuit of terrorism, and even terrorism from the former Soviet countries, succeeded in the size of (5000).

Five thousand fighters, politicians, and logisticians as well, and he even surpassed the Americans, despite coordination and caution. Peaceful solutions were presented to the military, and then they were pushed forward together, holding on to the ballot boxes in Damascus, supervising the drafting of a just democratic constitution in Syria, and Jordanian-Russian insistence.

A joint assertion by Safadi and Lavrov to resolve the Syrian crisis in accordance with Security Council Resolution (2254), and Moscow's eyes are concerned about Idlib, the last gateway to Syrian peace.

It is moving among the Arabs in terms of an open military balance with America and a secret superiority over it.

The Jordanian-Russian relationship is well-established in its orientations and can only turn into more positivity. There is no doubt that Jordan and Russia are fully aware of the flaws of the American policy, which is trying to disengage the two countries, but it will certainly not succeed.
