Afrasianet - Senegalese artist with the pseudonym Patti Afia who painted a severed head for French President Emmanuel Macron says France has no right to keep its army in Senegal.

This came according to an interview by Patti Afia with the agency "Novosti", where he continued: "The message is to be free. I want there to be complete freedom between us and France. Complete freedom in our choices and in everything that happens between us. Let's start by purging their army here. They have no right to keep an army here. This is unacceptable, and I can't understand it."

This 3-metre-long and 7-metre-wide mural in Dakar was done by the painter and is entitled "The Beheading of Neocolonialism".

Patty Afia believes the French army is in Senegal to protect French interests, while he says they are here to protect Senegal. "We have no problem, they are here to protect their property. They are the ones who brought all the evils that happen in Africa, and they are the ones who caused them."

Explaining the French president's severed head mural, he said this "was the fate of the soldiers who fought for France in 1944."

When Senegalese archers demanded their wages, the French killed them, and it happened in Dakar. "We haven't forgotten it, and that's why, if we cut Macron's head, they will have to accept it. They did worse than that."

According to the artist, he already has ideas for new graffiti on the issue, and will start drawing new work in the near future.
