Western double standards between Gaza and Ukraine

Afrasianet - The way the West deals with both the Israeli war on Gaza and the Russian war on Ukraine puts it in the face of many accusations of hypocrisy, double standards and double standards, as it is widely criticized for its silence on what is happening in Gaza and falsification of facts in exchange for sympathy and unconditional support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

In the days following the Al-Aqsa Flood, Western countries, with the exception of a few, rushed to present a unified and firm message of support for Tel Aviv, and gathered to support the crimes and violations of the Israeli occupation state against the Palestinian people, and to recognize that Israel has the right to defend itself and commit massacres against the people of Gaza.

What was striking was the double standards of the West, the outright sympathy for Ukraine during the war with Russia, and the assertion of Israel's right to defend itself in its war on Gaza.

The Western position was evident in that Israel is the victim of a terrorist attack that it did not carry out a provocative act that led to it, and that it has the right to defend itself, and that the West stands fully with it against the barbaric violence of Hamas, and that the latter is the one who initiated hostilities and forced Israel to use force, while it hides behind civilians, and therefore the blame lies on it, whether partially or completely, for causing the killing of all civilians on both sides, and the anti-Palestinian narrative has permeated the West, according to which both types of Support for Palestine is rooted in violence and motivated by hatred of all Jews, so in the name of fighting racism Palestinians are condemned and criminalized.

While a number of Western officials went to the Ukrainian capital Kiev to talk about killing children and blowing up schools and hospitals, condemning what they called "Russian criminality", the same officials stood silent in front of the killing of Palestinian children, bombing hospitals, schools and churches, and preventing their residents from medicine and food, and even stood on the side of the killer, offering their unconditional support to him. • The

best evidence of double standards is the different positions of Western countries; the US administration condemned in the strongest terms what it called «Genocide" committed by Russian forces in Ukraine, and supported the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for Russian President Vladimir Putin on the grounds that he is accused of war crimes in Ukraine. In contrast, when Israel began its latest brutal aggression on Gaza and poured hell on the heads of children and women, the US administration did not mention the terms genocide, war crimes and terrorizing civilians. Hamas was accused of terrorism, kidnapping and killing Israeli civilians, and beheading Israeli children during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood before backing down. It also announced its unequivocal support for Israel, granting it $260 billion in military aid.

In France, there is a great emphasis on the fact that the war is not between Palestine and Israel, but between Israel and Hamas, in order to win popular sympathy that did not accept France's views against the Palestinians. In 2022, French President Emmanuel Macron appeared very angry about allegations  that Russia killed civilians in the Ukrainian town of Bucha, said that there is very clear evidence to suggest that Russian forces are responsible for war crimes in Ukraine, and called for more sanctions on the Moscow. After the Al-Aqsa flood, he described Hamas as a terrorist, did not condemn Israel's killing of civilians and the destruction of homes on the heads of their inhabitants, nor uttered the terms and vocabulary of brutality, barbarism, genocide and war crimes.

In 2022, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stressed that the perpetrators of crimes committed by the Russian army in the Ukrainian town of Bucha and those who planned them must be held accountable, calling for international organizations to enter the region to document these atrocities. But after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and during his visit to Israel, he stressed his support for the Jewish state in defending itself, and urged the German security services not to tolerate any demonstration in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance that is struggling The Israeli occupation also did not condemn the heinous crimes committed against children, the elderly and unarmed women in the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, did not demand their documentation, did not talk about a humanitarian truce or anything that reflects that he felt the sadness and pain he felt towards Ukrainian civilians.

British Prime Minister of Indian origin, Rishi Sunak, while attending the G20 summit in Indonesia in 2022, also launched an attack on Russia, describing it as a pariah state due to its crimes in Ukraine.

Last October, during his visit to Israel, he did not condemn the Israeli attacks on hospitals, homes and schools, nor did he tell Israeli officials that the killing of thousands of innocent civilians was a barbaric act and that they should stop, but on the contrary declared his full solidarity with Israel.

 • • The West put the mask of human rights in the Russian-Ukrainian war, but replaced it when it came to a massacre committed against an unarmed people, which revealed its hypocrisy and blind bias, so it did not hesitate to issue statements of condemnation and threats when it was suspended But he is silent and even blesses the same actions that the Israelis are committing against the Palestinians.

The war against Gaza has exposed the falsity of all the slogans raised by the West, between the war in Ukraine and the war on Gaza, we stand today in front of selectivity and double standards, despite the fact that the maker is the same. It was the imperialist mind that created the war in Ukraine and is committing genocide today against the people of Gaza. The West, which today hides behind the values of democracy and the false slogans about human rights, is the creator of the same two tragedies, just as it is for its interests and the implementation of its agendas, it manipulates Ukrainian blood in the face of Today, the Russian attack continues to manipulate Palestinian blood in the face of Israeli aggression.

If the West wants to convince the rest of the world to believe what it says about the values of democracy, human rights and the need to abide by international laws, the universal principles it rightly applies to Russia in Ukraine  also do not apply to Israel's brutal disregard for civilian lives in Gaza.

It's hypocrisy and blatant double standards.
