Afrasianet - Israeli historian Lee Mordechai said he had documented "an enormous amount of evidence" proving Israel committed genocideagainst Palestinians in the Gaza Strip
.
Mordechai based his 124-page study, "Testimony to the Israel-Gaza War," on thousands of references to support his assessment. Includes eyewitness reports, video footage, photographs and investigative materials, and articles.
Wali Mordechai, 42, is a former IDF engineering officer and is now a senior lecturer in history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
"I have Mordecai, a professional historian and Israeli citizen, who testifies with this document to the situation in Gaza as events unfold, and the vast amount of evidence I have seen was enough for me to believe that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian population in Gaza," he said.
In response to Israel's justifications for the war of extermination, he said, "The Israeli response to the Hamas operation on October 7, 2023 is disproportionate and completely criminal." "There is sufficient evidence of indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks by Israel throughout the war, as well as numerous examples of massacres and other killings."
Starvation
"Israel has created famine in Gaza as a de facto policy and used it as a weapon of war, resulting in the death of dozens of civilians, mostly children, from starvation," Mordechai says in his study.
"Israel has also caused shortages of water, medicine and electricity. It has also dismantled Gaza's health system and civilian infrastructure and, as a result, more people are dying from treatable conditions and difficult medical procedures such as amputations and caesarean sections performed without anesthesia."
In his study, he stressed that the overall deaths in Gaza are unknown, but they are certainly much higher than the official death toll.
Attacking Israel's racist rhetoric, Mordechai said, "Senior Israeli officials have led the campaign to dehumanize Palestinians, and the campaign continues to be supported by the government and the military. It works to dehumanize the Palestinians."
Ethnic cleansing
Mordechai argues that the evidence he saw and discussed "suggests that one of Israel's goals is to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip, either partially or completely, by excluding as many Palestinians as possible."
"Key members of the Israeli government have made statements confirming this intention, as many Israeli ministries have planned or worked to facilitate such an end, sometimes by persuading or pressuring other countries," he said.
"Israel has already cleared large parts of the Gaza Strip through demolition and bulldozing, and has tried to destroy the fabric of Palestinian society by deliberately targeting civilian institutions such as universities, libraries, archives, religious buildings, historical sites, farms, schools, cemeteries, museums and markets," he said.
