Afrasianet - Former European Union foreign affairs representative  Josep Borrell has attacked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by  the International Criminal Court (ICC), after he nominated US President Donald Trump for  the Nobel Peace Prize, calling the former a "war criminal" and the latter an "arms dealer".

Commenting on Netanyahu's nomination of Trump for this award during a dinner at the White House , Borrell said in a post on the X platform that "a war criminal wanted for international justice (Netanyahu) proposes to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump's largest arms supplier, through which he causes the largest ethnic cleansing in the region (referring to the Gaza war)."

Haaretz revealed US documents indicating that Washington is spending hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Israel.

Israel also receives $3.8 billion annually in aid from Washington under a memorandum of understanding signed with the administration of former President Barack Obama, covering the period from 2019 to 2028.

On November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

That same month, the EU Commission said  it supported the ICC and that all EU countries were obliged to carry out arrest warrants against Netanyahu.

Since  October 7, 2023,  Israel, with US support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders by the International Court of Justice to stop it, leaving more than 194,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, and more than 10,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of displaced people and famine that has claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
