Afrasianet - In his welcoming speech to the participants of the Moscow International Security Forum, President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of this event, stressing the need for Eurasia to be a space for international peace and stability.

"On May 9 we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II. Moscow's celebrations were a symbol of rallying around the great victory, and a testament to the determination of our friends and partners to build a safer world."

Putin stressed the importance of preserving the truth about the facts of the war, combating attempts to falsify history, and benefiting from historical experiences and lessons of the past in facing contemporary security challenges.

Putin stressed the stability of Russia's approach adhering to a new, equal and indivisible security structure in the world, and that all countries have firm guarantees of their security, but not at the expense of the security and interests of other countries.

"It is important to make Eurasia a space of peace and stability, an example of sustainable economic, social and cultural development," he said.

He pointed out that the organizations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization may form the basis of a comprehensive and unified security system in Eurasia.

"We are fully confident that this meeting will contribute to the development of a new approach and promote constructive dialogue between countries for the benefit of all humanity."

Shoigu calls on BRICS to prevent Western politicization of Interpol and other international security organizations

During the thirteenth security meeting of the BRICS countries in Moscow, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu stressed the importance of preventing the West from politicizing Interpol and other international security organizations.

"The work being done within the framework of our gathering to establish trade and financial mechanisms that resist external risks is of particular importance. We count on supporting Russia's efforts in this field and creating a new investment platform."

"It is also important to prevent the West from politicizing Interpol, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and other international security organisations."

"I don't recall such precedents." Lavrov expresses surprise at Interpol's initiative

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that Moscow is not expected to need Western help in investigating the "Crocos" terrorist attack, because of its double standards and suspicious purposes.

Speaking at a news conference after negotiations with his Namibian counterpart Biya Mushelinga in Moscow, Lavrov said: "On the one hand, I am confident that we will successfully deal with this investigation. On the other hand, it is unlikely that we will need such assistance, which would clearly be a manifestation of double standards and would probably be aimed at "promoting a convenient theory to the West that this (terrorist act) was carried out by ISIS, and that Ukraine has nothing to do with it."

Lavrov also pointed to a "surprise" statement by Interpol in which he expressed readiness to help Russia in the investigation of the "Crocos" attack, and the Russian minister said: "I do not remember such an initiative from Interpol in previous cases that also required great international attention, and the most obvious example is the (sabotage of gas pipelines) the Northern Stream."

"We have long been accustomed to the double standards of our Western friends and will continue to act only on the basis of our full understanding of what the West seeks to achieve and in what ways," Lavrov added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Russian authorities know that  the Crocus attack was carried out by "radical Islamists", but who ordered it to be carried out.

He added that this attack may be just "an episode in a whole series of attempts by those who have been fighting our country since 2014 at the hands of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev," pointing out that "it is necessary to find out why the terrorists tried to escape to Ukraine and who was waiting for them there, and the United States is trying to convince everyone that Ukraine is not involved in the attack."
