Afrasianet - US billionaire Elon Musk has called on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to resign and appear in court, saying he is "an accomplice to sexual crimes committed against minors in northern England decades ago".

Musk wrote on his X account: "Starmer was complicit in the rape of minors in Britain while heading the Royal Public Prosecution for six years. Starmer must be sacked and prosecuted for complicity in the most heinous mass crimes in British history."

Tweets posted by Musk in recent days on his X account suggest that one of US President-elect Donald Trump's closest allies is closely following the escalating scandal in Britain over the investigation into several sex crimes committed mainly by individuals of Pakistani origin.

The case deals with the rape and sexual exploitation of young girls and minors in Oldham, Rotherham, Rochdale, Telford and a number of other British cities during the late eighties and early nineties of the twentieth century, until the middle of the first decade of the current century.

These crimes, whose victims were mostly girls from poor families, were ignored and covered up for many years, and only began to be publicly highlighted in 2012.

Keir Starmer, who headed Labour's new government in July last year, served as chief prosecutor from 2008 to 2013, admitting that in some cases police and prosecutors avoided prosecuting members of ethnic and religious minorities "for fear of accusations of racism or Islamophobia".

Britain's health and welfare minister, Wes Streeting, told Sky News: "Some of Musk's criticisms are wrong, in my view, and are certainly based on misinformation, but we are willing to work with Elon Musk."

"I think it is. His social network will play a big role in solving this serious problem both in our country and in other countries. If he wants to cooperate with us, roll up his sleeves, and we will welcome that."

In July 2024, Oldham City Council called on the Home Office to open a national inquiry into sexual offences targeting minors, as well as the response of police, prosecutors and local authorities to these crimes. However, Deputy Home Secretary Jess Phillips rejected the call, stating that the inquiry should be done at the local level as happened in the cities of Rotherham and Telford, arguing that it would be more objective for the city's residents.

Reports suggest that the government's refusal may be linked to the ruling Labour Party's desire to avoid angering Muslim voters.

Opposition parties, including Kimi Badnock's Conservative Party and Nigel Farage's Reform UK, have joined in criticising Starmer and Labour, with Farage noting that successive governments, including the Conservative government that ruled between 2010 and 2024, have also failed victims of these crimes.

According to BBC reports, investigations showed that around 1,400 children in Rotherham were sexually abused between 1997 and 2013, while in Telford, around 1,000 girls have been abused over a 40-year period since the 1990s. In these two cities alone, more than 100 people have been convicted of these crimes.
