Afrasianet - Journalist  Jonathan Cook, in an article for the British website "Middle East Eye", criticized the indifference of the Western media to the news of the discovery of mass graves in the Gaza Strip, some of them inside hospitals.

He said that the discovery of mass graves in the courtyard of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis was the most prominent event that distinguished itself from other atrocities that Israel has relentlessly committed against Palestinians, resulting in the martyrdom of some 34,000 people, the majority of them women and children.

Cook said another 400 people were still missing in Khan Younis, and more mass graves were likely to be discovered.

The Civil Defense in Gaza confirmed last Thursday that the mass graves discovered in the vicinity of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis (southern Gaza Strip) showed evidence of Israeli crimes against humanity, pointing to the discovery of bodies showing signs of torture and burial alive, some of which were children.

He also announced in a press conference that he has so far recovered about 392 bodies from 3 mass graves in the Nasser Complex Square after the occupation withdrew from it, since the start of the recovery operations a week ago.

Commenting on the news, Cook said that under these circumstances, one would have expected the discovery of the mass graves of hundreds of Palestinians to make headlines, especially after the International Court of Justice ruled three months ago that there was "reasonable" evidence that Israel had committed acts of genocide in Gaza.
But these Israeli atrocities have not moved a finger in the media, Cook says, as "the British media is no longer much interested" in covering the ongoing massacres in the besieged Palestinian enclave.

This disregard stands in stark contrast to media coverage of the war in Ukraine, where Russian forces are always blamed  for or without it.

The British journalist says that the indifference shown by the Western media towards the mass graves found in Gaza has greatly relieved the country's Labour and Conservative parties.

As a result, Britain avoided pressuring Israel to end the bloodshed in Gaza, but refused to stop selling weapons that helped Israel kill Palestinians, and possibly aid workers as well.

Britain has even complied with Israel's request, cutting funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which is best suited to prevent a famine deliberately caused by Israel in Gaza by denying relief supplies entry into the Strip.

According to the article, Britain's abstention contributed to thwarting a resolution at the UN Security Council this month to recognize the state of Palestine.

Labour and Conservative support for Israel's genocide in Gaza has sparked a wave of public anger, one manifested in the ongoing protests in London that draw hundreds of thousands of demonstrators.

Once again, Cook is again criticizing the British media, which, in his view, seemed less interested in covering Israeli atrocities and more interested in falsely blaming the "malign motives" of large segments of the British public angry at what is happening in Gaza.

It is strange that a crystal clear hoax orchestrated by an Israeli lobby completely overshadows the discovery of mass graves in the Gaza Strip.

Gideon Walter, chief executive of the so-called "Campaign Against Anti-Semitism," has tried to stop peaceful London marches calling for an end to the slaughter of men, women and children in Gaza since Israel began its military offensive more than 6 months ago.

The Middle East Eye article attributed Walter as describing the hundreds of thousands of people who regularly come out to call for a ceasefire — including a large mass of Jews — as "lawless mobs" who pose a direct threat to Jews like him.

A video posted on social media shows Walter confronting police in an earlier incident in which he tried to drive a large truck carrying pro-Israel messages on the route.

Cook said real debates — about why the United States and Britain are still actively supporting the bombing and starvation of Gaza's population six months after the genocide — have been muted by the fake news broadcast by the Israel lobby.

The author accused both the government and the BBC of working together to help Israel and genocide defenders win the public relations battle.
