Amman - Afrasianet - Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Francois Sénémaud, the French special presidential envoy to Syria, on Tuesday discussed efforts towards finding political solutions to the Syrian crisis, providing support for Syrian refugees and host countries.
The two sides also discussed the outcomes of the third Brussels conference was held earlier this month, entitled “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region”, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
The meeting was focused on efforts to end the Syrian crisis on the basis of UN Resolution 2254 that maintains Syria’s unity and facilitates the voluntary return of refugees to their country.
The two officials also voiced their countries’ support for the new UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen’s efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis.
The two sides also discussed international anti-terrorism efforts underlining that terrorism remains an ideological and security threat.
Safadi acquainted Sénémaud with Jordan’s economic burdens resulting from hosting a large number of Syrian refugees.
The French official said his country valued the Kingdom’s humanitarian role in the Syrian crisis.
The two sides also discussed the role of the Amman-Paris partnership in maintaining regional security and stability.
