Afrasianet - "Son of a Nazi: José Antonio Caste, Won the Election in Chile", such was the stark headline. But that didn't stop Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar from being one of the first to congratulate the new president. A far-right ideology? A crusade against immigrants, whom he intends to expel "and only wear the clothes they wear?" , a dark family past associated with Nazism?
Public sympathy for the bloody Augusto Pinochet, who plunged Chile into a sea of blood and torture? Surprisingly, Sa'ar's congratulations to a Nazi son did not surprise anyone in Israel, as if it were a natural thing, a state of a people that had been a victim of Nazism that had become a beloved object of far-right and neo-Nazi parties around the world. But before reprimanding Sa'ar, the question arises:
Why does Mr. Kast find an ally in Israel, what attracts him to it, and what attracts him to it? After all, judging by history, he and his ilk should have hated Israel, the Jewish state, and even boycotted it.
Another question: Did the neo-Nazis change their skin? How did they suddenly become friends with the Jews?
I think the answer to these questions is that although the essence of Nazism and fascism was and still is hatred of the other, especially Jews, the far right attaches great importance to unbridled brutality, blind nationalism, and blatant disregard for the world and international norms. Regimes with all these qualities are being admired, and sometimes even worshipped, by the world's new wave of far-right.
The Trump administration is currently exemplifying these qualities, and Israel is following in its footsteps, sometimes even preceding them. The disgusting status in which Trump is praised and portrayed as a near-supernatural figure is the picture of an era that is gradually taking shape before my eyes, in which America's great Jewish rich, including Miriam Adelson, flatters him and paves the way for him to go for more years in office. All of this is disgusting to people who are morally and mentally normal.
But Trump is specifically highlighting the horrific qualities that capture the hearts of the neo-fascist right: violating both international and U.S. law, granting amnesties in bulk, left and right, and completely ignoring shameful scandals like the Jeffrey Epstein case. On the other hand, there is an enthusiastic crowd of supporters who eagerly devour his words.
Extreme nationalism has become a tyrant, blindness that has nothing to do with political logic, diabolical cruelty that overwhelms everything, blatant contempt for anyone who has a different attitude within Israel and in the world, the eradication of all human feelings towards everything that is happening in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank (otherwise, the policymakers and support groups are complacent with themselves, you only have to watch the TV channels, especially Channel 14, where a senior official of the channel expressed satisfaction with the human suffering in the Gaza Strip following the floods Israel has become the focus of the world's mad people.
They see her erratic behavior and are distraught. Their reactions are in line with their expectations. Here's the latest development: Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Shikli has invited Tommy Robinson, the leader of Britain's far-right, to visit Israel, sparking outrage among Britain's Jewish community.
A statement from the council, which represents hundreds of Jewish organisations in Britain, said: "Tommy Robinson is a criminal who represents Britain's worst." Shikli's real role seems to be to support the far right and fascism, not to support Jewish communities in the Diaspora.
If that is the case, his ministry should be renamed the Ministry of Neo-Nazi Affairs.
Thanks to Shikli and his generous contribution, Israel has been transformed from a country of gathering the diaspora into a country of gathering crazy fascists.
