
Afrasianet - The Alba Alliance rejects US threats to impose a naval blockade on Venezuela, stressing that the blockade of oil tankers and attempts to seize resources is a violation of sovereignty and an act of aggression that threatens the Venezuelan people and regional peace.
The Alba alliance has declared its categorical rejection of what it described as "serious and racist threats" from the United States, denouncing its intention to impose a comprehensive blockade on Venezuela and its attempts to seize its natural resources.
In an official statement, the Bolivarian Alliance of Latin American Peoples denounced Washington's decision to block the access of oil tankers to and from Venezuela, stressing that this action constitutes a clear violation of Venezuela's sovereignty and a direct threat to its national resources.
The statement, signed by countries including Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, the Dominican, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada and St. Lucia, noted that these steps represent a "serious and reckless threat" to the Bolivarian state by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The coalition stressed that the declaration of a "comprehensive blockade" and the forcible seizure of Venezuela's resources fall within the framework of an "act of international aggression" that constitutes a violation of the UN Charter and a violation of the principles of international law and the foundations of peaceful coexistence among States.
The statement also warned of the seriousness of the declared US intentions, considering that the quest to control oil, land and natural resources, in addition to disrupting the freedom of navigation, amounts to crimes against humanity due to its devastating effects on the lives, economy and development of the Venezuelan people.
The coalition stressed that the use of the blockade as a political and military tool is "an inhumane practice and systematic genocide", rejecting the Venezuelan administration's characterization of the "terrorist organization", stressing that this unjust designation aims to tarnish the image of the Venezuelan state.
In his assessment of the escalation of regional tensions, he said that these steps come in the context of a political project through which colonial powers seek to revive forms of intervention in the region, warning of the consequences of these practices for regional and international peace.
The Alba Alliance expressed its absolute solidarity with President Nicolás Maduro , the Venezuelan government and the people of Venezuela, stressing that any attack on this country represents a direct threat to the entire Latin American region.
The statement called on global communities and social movements to unite in the face of this threat and insist on defending the right of peoples to self-determination, stressing that the Latin American region does not belong to any colonial empire.
He reiterated the collective commitment to defend the sovereignty and dignity of peoples, stressing that Venezuela will not be alone, and that free peoples will stand together to protect peace, sovereignty and dignity from any attempt at hegemony.
