Israel's current image: "Nazis with loudspeakers," "empty seats," and murderous children. What if Trump gets tired of us?

Afrasianet - Yesterday, it was the turn of comrades Smotrich and Ben-Gvir to put strong loudspeakers  in front of Netanyahu, and broadcast their explicit threats to him loudly – the implementation of Trump's plan, as detailed and recently published, means the end of the government.

Two years after the October 7 disaster, the October 7 prime minister is reaching a decisive, and perhaps fateful, juncture in the war – either he takes the plan, declares victory and runs for election, or he tries to continue to procrastinate at the expense of hostage lives and test President Trump's waning patience Continuously, in order to add a few more weeks/months to the age of his destructive coalition.

In short, Netanyahu must choose between government and state. between his narrow political interest and the general interest of the State of Israel. I have been writing for years that Netanyahu is the first prime minister who, in such a predicament, will not hesitate to choose his personal interest at the expense of the state. He has done this dozens of times. What will he do this time? I don't know. The decision is in his hands.

In general, Netanyahu has exhausted the war. According to a good number of sources, the attack by the Hamas leadership in Doha, Qatar, was supposed to provide him with the image of victory needed to push for an end to the war. According to this account, the Americans were in the picture. But the attack failed, and Trump usually doesn't associate himself with failure — so he distanced himself from the attack.

Now, we have to start from the beginning. According to sources close to Netanyahu, Trump's plan is essentially Dermer's. Most of the principles mentioned in it were already present in Netanyahu's old plan, which he approved in the War Council by a majority of (0-6) and from which he later escaped like a snake bite due to the threats of Ben-Gvir and Smotrich. Will he run away this time too?

Netanyahu began his speech at the United Nations on Friday with a detailed account of Israel's military achievements and victories over the past two years. The speech looks like a closing speech. The problem is that there is no image of victory at the moment, but of bitterness, and there are (probably) 20 living hostages who have been lying for two years, dying in Hamas tunnels.

Netanyahu could have gotten out of this position several times in the past few months, but he ignored it. Ben-Gvir and Smotrich's horror outweighed all other motives. Now, with elections due next year, he faces an even greater challenge. He must finally decide.

The road to signing Trump's plan is long and winding; too many details, too many points, too many disagreements. In normal times, this is the situation Netanyahu prefers. At such a point, he enters into a war of attrition.

You can ask Bill or Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Barack Obama, Tony Blinken and Joe Biden. Netanyahu is the ultimate winner in the wars of attrition. It makes the negotiators' lives miserable, and in the end no one remembers what they were fighting for or what they were trying to achieve – and everyone is distracted with nothing.

There is a problem this time. It's not Clinton, it's not Obama, it's not Biden. It's Trump. This man does not tolerate wars of attrition. As soon as he runs out of wicks, he turns the tables on those who tried to drain him.

That hasn't happened yet, and I don't know if it will, but Trump will run out of patience one day. One day he will realize that there is no "complete victory" over a terrorist organization that has nothing to lose and nothing to fear. If Netanyahu tries to drain Trump, he may find himself exhausted. Unless Hamas volunteers to pull the chestnuts out of the fire and rejects Netanyahu's plan. Rejection Race is the new power game.

Netanyahu's speech at the United Nations, as usual, was polished and persuasive, moving and detailed. The problem is that he convinced us, i.e., the convinced. He has not convinced the rest of the world, who now see us as child killers, heirs of the Nazis, and perpetrators of genocide. The stupid speaker experiment turned on Hugo, Netanyahu, through the Israel Defense Forces.

Whoever "grows up" in the Southern Command (perhaps the commander of the command) and sends fighters to deploy loudspeakers inside the Strip has shown irresponsibility of the first order. The scene itself appeared purely North Korean, and further emphasized Israel's authoritarian image. It was an "influence operation" at the Iranian level, not Israel. This is unfortunate.

After watching the speech, I checked the text of Netanyahu's speech again to make sure he had indeed said, "Gaza has been besieged with powerful loudspeakers." And he has already said so. No, Netanyahu, you did not besiege Gaza with loudspeakers.

It was the IDF soldiers who did it, at your command. Soldiers who have been there for two years, regular soldiers whose service has been extended, and who are fighting over and over again on the same destroyed sites, over and over again.

The reservists, who are called up for one round after another, leave behind their grieving families, closed shops, debts and problems. They were sent to disperse the speakers that no one heard, to satisfy your desires and create a suspicious image that has done far more harm than good.

I sincerely hope that someone in Netanyahu's circle, as well as in the IDF's senior command, will learn lessons from this farce. In the end, two images remain of Netanyahu's speech: the loud loudspeakers in front of the ruins of Gaza, and the collective representatives leaving the UN General Assembly hall at the beginning of his speech.

This image captures the current state of Israel, that successful and popular brand until recently, which overnight became exhausted and radiant. This damage, which has severely damaged our standard of living, economy, prosperity and hope, will take a long time to repair. Perhaps longer than the reconstruction of Gaza.
